Mitsui Chemicals Singapore SSG Award

Through our Mitsui Chemicals Process Technology (MCPT) Study Award which we conduct every year with selected polytechnics, we have built up a pipeline of young talents for our Plant operations. The MCPT Study Award started in 2012 and it has been very successful in attracting young polytechnic graduates to join the workforce.

Continuous skills enhancement effort

As part of the skills enhancement effort for our pool of Process Technicians, we have been working with Singapore Polytechnic since 2015 on the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) for Advanced Diploma in Chemical Engineering to build our talent pipeline. Till date, three employees had completed the programme. Three more employees are currently undergoing this programme, and will be graduating in May 2020.

Soon-to-graduate from SkillsFuture ELP for Advanced Diploma in Chemical Engineering in May 2020, Mr Chng Wei Keong, Process Technician from Mitsui Phenols Singapore (MPS), shared that he is able to attain more technical knowledge and concurrently apply it to his workplace through this learning opportunity that is supported by the company. He also shared that MPS had assigned a mentor to assist and supervise his final year project. Mr Chng was also a past MCPT Study Award recipient offered by Mitsui Chemicals Singapore and had joined MPS since 2018.

Developing talents is a never-ending journey

The pace of innovation and emergence of disruptive technology are changing the nature of jobs. In facing these challenges, Mitsui Chemicals has set its human resources priority on global talent management and skills development strategies to enable our employees’ readiness to support the company’s long term business plan.
