Successful renewal of the Human Capital Partnership (HCPartner)

Mitsui Chemicals Asia Pacific (MCAP) – Five companies under the Mitsui Chemicals Group in Singapore received the confirmation from the Tripartite Alliance for Fair & Progressive Practices (TAFEP) on the successful status renewal for the HCPartner for 3 years, period from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023. The renewal of this status affirms our continued efforts in investing in our human capital using various skills development strategies, and adopting fair and progressive workplace.

 

The Singapore companies represented in this status renewal are as follows:

•    Mitsui Chemicals Asia Pacific, Ltd.

•    Mitsui Phenols Singapore Pte. Ltd.

•    Mitsui Elastomers Singapore Pte Ltd

•    Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R&D Centre Pte. Ltd.

•    SDC Technologies Asia Pacific, Pte. Ltd.

 

Application to be recognized as an HCPartner for our newest affiliated company in Singapore, Prime Evolue Singapore Pte. Ltd., is ongoing and will be announced when the status is confirmed.

 

Developing our human capital in Singapore

 

Through our Mitsui Chemicals Process Technology (MCPT) Study Award which we conduct every year with participating polytechnics, we have built up a pipeline of young talents for our Plant operations. The MCPT Study Award started in 2012 and it has been very successful in attracting young polytechnic graduates to join our workforce.

 

As part of the skills enhancement effort for our pool of Process Technicians, we have been working with Singapore Polytechnic since 2015 on the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP) for Advanced Diploma in Chemical Engineering to build our talent pipeline.

 

For our support in developing our people, we also received the SkillsFuture Employer Awards that was presented on 30 July 2019.

 

As one of the key player in the Chemical hub in Singapore, the challenge is always the upkeep of talent pipeline for the business and operations. To attract, retain and develop sufficient pool of talents with relevant and up-to-date skills & competencies to meet the business needs is continuously a business for human resource.
